Offered here for bid is a 10K gold 1991 PPG Indy Car Championship ring, manufactured by Jostens. This ring was given to members who worked for and supported driver Michael Andretti, winner of the 1991 CART PPG Indy Car Championship, and his racing team. During the racing season, the national champ Andretti - driving for the Newman/Haas Racing team - won eight events (while winning an additional eight pole positions), and remarkably led for more than half of the laps during the entire season.
The ring’s face features an image of a racing car that sits on top of a crown, consisting of a large CZ, with eight smaller red stones underneath. This center design is set atop a black onyx stone. Around the bezel setting reads “PPG INDY CAR CHAMPION 1991”. The left shank lists sponsors Kmart, Havoline and Texaco. Appearing on the opposite side of the band is the name “WILLIAMS”, along with the NEWMAN HAAS RACING logo. “LOLA” appears at the bottom, below checkered finish flags, in reference to the car’s chassis. 10K JOSTENS stamps are present on the inside of the band. This ring is approximately a size 9 while weighing an approximate 30.0 grams. This item comes with the owner's original purchase LOA.
