In one of the most dramatic finishes in All-Star Game history, Ted Williams hit a three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to lead the American League to a 7-5 victory over the National League in walk-off fashion. Played in Detroit, this contest also saw the likes of legendary players Joe DiMaggio, Jimmie Foxx, Mel Ott, Johnny Mize and Bob Feller.
Presented here is a rare item - a 1941 All-Star Game pin that has been converted into a ring. The 14K gold pin - which is mounted in a 10K ring base - features an image of a baseball in the center, reading “DETROIT 1941”. Appearing around the perimeter, on bright blue enamel, are the words “ALL STAR GAME AMERICAN LEAGUE”. A small diamond is positioned at each of the four corners (12 points total), which serve as bases on what is the shape of a baseball field. The left shank of the ring portion is engraved “1941” while “ALL STAR” is shown on the opposite side of the band. The inside of the band is stamped 10K. Approximate size of this ring is an 11 ½ with its weight being approximately 22.5 grams. This item comes with a copy of the original 1998 auction listing and the owner's original purchase LOA.
