The United States Football League (USFL) began play in 1983 and the league’s first champion was the Michigan Panthers. After a 12-6 regular season record (finishing first in the Central Division) the Panthers defeated the Oakland Invaders 37-21 to reach the championship game. Michigan then beat the Philadelphia Stars 24-22 to win the title. QB Bobby Hebert threw for 3,568 yards and 27 TDs during the season, WR Anthony Carter had 60 receptions for 1,181 yards and 9 TDs, and RB Ken Lacy rushed for 1,180 yards. On the defensive side of the ball, John Corker recorded a mind-boggling 28.5 sacks.

Presented here is a 10K gold 1983 Michigan Panthers USFL Championship ring, manufactured by Jostens. An image of a football, studded with CZs, sits on a large black stone in the center of the ring. Around the bezel setting reads “USFL 1983 CHAMPIONS” in relief. The left shank features the name “JOE DELIA” and number 58 in a banner display above an image of a helmet. The year 1983 appears at the bottom. An image of a football player, underneath “MICHIGAN PANTHERS”, is shown on the opposite shank. A 10K and manufacturer mark are inside the band. This ring is an approximate size 13 and weighs approximately 33.8 grams. This item comes with the owner's original purchase LOA.
