As Pete Rose ticked off the hits leading up to his 4,000th career hit, Mizuno created a special bat for his use bearing the model number "PR 4000" to inspire him as he closed in on that milestone. Rose used these Mizuno's exclusively until April 13th, 1984 when he surpassed that exclusive mark. Mizuno then created a new model as Pete set his sights on Ty Cobb's record - the "PR 4191".

     This bat was used by Rose during the 1984 season. As you'd expect from a club used by The Hit King, this un-cracked bat shows light to moderate game use. An "A" has been stamped in the knob end and there are numerous marks and abrasions present on the barrel. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B14595) who have noted that due to tape residue on the barrel it’s possible that this bat was also used for batting practice. There is also an additional LOA from former Major League reliever Lee Smith, who attests that this bat was given to him by Rose and has been part of his personal collection.
