Is there any doubt Mike Trout is one of the truly great baseball talents of our generation? Currently in his sixth season, Trout has made the All-Star team every year he has played and has also either won the AL MVP Award (2014 and 2016) or came in second (2012, 2013 and 2015) every season in his career. Trout will likely either win the AL MVP or come in second again in 2017 and the injury he encountered during this season is likely the biggest factor preventing him from winning the award again this year if he doesn’t. It doesn’t seem to be pure coincidence that Trout’s nickname “The Millville Meteor" is so reminiscent of Mickey Mantle’s nickname of “The Commerce Comet.”

Trout used this bat during his MVP season in 2016. Throughout 2016, Trout pounded the ball, hitting .315 with 29 homers, 30 stolen bases and 100 RBIs while leading the league in runs scored, walks and on-base-percentage. On August 11th, the Angels superstar used this bat to hit the 22nd home run of the year. The first inning solo blast was hit off Cleveland’s Corey Kluber, a former Cy Young Award winner who came in third in the CY Young voting that season and is the front-runner to win the AL Cy Young Award again in 2017. It was Trout’s 22nd home run of the season en route to his second American League MVP Award.

This Old Hickory MT27 model bat is un-cracked and shows good game use. Several ball marks with white leather ball scuffs are visible on the barrel (one of which is the home run shot). A medium coat of pine tar is on the upper handle and the lower handle has been wrapped in black adhesive to enhance the grip. Trout has signed the barrel in contrasting silver pen, adding “HR #22 vs Cle MVP 16 G/U”. Any game used bat from Mike Trout is a collector’s dream, but to have one photo matched, signed and directly attributed to a specific home run during an MVP season - well, that’s just something else entirely.

The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B14446) for the game use and has been graded a perfect GU 10 along with being photo-matched. There is also an LOA from Anderson Authentics for the game use and the signature.
