In 2014, Miguel Cabrera set a new career high with 52 doubles, a number that led the American League. Offered here is the baseball Cabrera hit to set his new career mark on September 26th, 2014. Although the Tigers lost to the Twins, Cabrera finished 3-4 with a home run, the aforementioned double, two RBI, and two runs scored. This baseball was also used during the at-bats of the two hitters behind Cabrera in the order. Victor Martinez hit this ball for a single that scored Cabrera before it was taken out of play after a J.D. Martinez foul tip.
Cabrera signed the sweet spot of this Official Major League Allan H. Selig baseball in blue pen. On the north panel, Cabrera wrote “52nd Double / 2014 / Career High”. The ball shows good use, and Selig’s stamped signature is almost completely obliterated by blue ink transference. This baseball comes with a LOA from JSA for the signature and a MLB Authenticated hologram (HZ 313595), which dates the use of the ball to the September 26th game and the three at-bats before the ball was taken out of play.
