On May 27th, 2014, during a road game against the Oakland A’s at the O.co Coliseum, Miguel Cabrera collected the 2,055th hit of his career. Cabrera hit this very baseball for an RBI single off of Sonny Gray in the first inning of the Tigers eventual 6-5 victory. After Cabrera’s double, Victor Martinez walked and J.D. Martinez hit an RBI double of his own before this ball was taken out of play. In the top of the third inning, Cabrera jacked a solo homer, the 373rd of his career. Cabrera finished the 2014 season with 25 home runs, 109 RBI, a .313 batting average, and an American League-leading 52 two-baggers.

Cabrera signed this Official Major League Allan H. Selig baseball in blue pen on the sweet spot. On the north panel, Cabrera inscribed “Career Hit 2055”, commemorating the knock that broke his tie with George Kell and Ray Durham on the all-time hits list. This baseball, which shows clear evidence of use, comes with a JSA STICKER ONLY (WP092914) for the signature, and a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK 403758), which dates the use of this ball to the May 27th contest.
