This baseball was used during the fourth game of the 2012 American League Championship Series between the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers. It was pitched by Derek Lowe of the Yankees to the Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera, the 2012 American League MVP and Triple Crown winner, in the bottom of the seventh inning. Cabrera, who hit a two run home run earlier in this 8-1 Tigers win, fouled the ball off behind the plate and it was subsequently removed from play. Cabrera flied out to right field to end his at bat. The Tigers won this game, sweeping the ALCS and advancing to the World Series against the San Francisco Giants.

Cabrera has signed the sweet spot of this Official 2012 Postseason Allan H. Selig baseball in blue pen. On the north panel, Cabrera has inscribed “16th Triple Crown Winner”, also in blue pen. This item comes with a JSA STICKER ONLY (WP092922) for the signature, and a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK 347259), which dates use to the October 18th, 2012 game.
