This base was used on August 17th, 2013 during the Detroit Tigers 6-5 victory over the Kansas City Royals. Miguel Cabrera walked the Tigers off, crushing the game-winning solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning against Royals closer Aaron Crow. This was Cabrera’s 39th home run of the season, and the 360th of his Hall of Fame career. Cabrera finished the 2013 season with 44 home runs and the American League MVP trophy for the second straight season.
This base was used as second base during the sixth inning through the end of the game, meaning it was in play when Salvador Perez went yard in the sixth inning, and when Prince Fielder’s bomb left the park in the seventh. This Schutt base shows clear evidence of game use, and each side features a Detroit Tigers 2012 American League Champion logo plaque. Cabrera signed the top of the base in black marker, inscribing “Career Home Run #360” and “9th Inning Walk Off Home Run”. This item comes with a LOA from JSA for the signature, and a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK 785934), which dates use to the August 17th contest.
