This base was used on September 18th, 2012 during the Detroit Tigers dominant 12-2 victory over the visiting Oakland Athletics. Miguel Cabrera drove in half of the Tigers runs thanks to two home runs, including a grand slam, his 39th and 40th blasts of the season. Cabrera won the American League Triple Crown and MVP Award in 2012, finishing with a slash line of .330/44/139.

This Schutt base was used as second base through the first six innings of the game, when Cabrera’s first home run, the 316th of his career, was hit. Cabrera’s grand slam happened in the bottom of the eighth inning. This base, which shows clear evidence of use, has Detroit Tigers plaques on two sides, and Roberto Clemente Day plaques on the remaining two. Cabrera signed the top of the base in blue marker. He added the inscriptions “Triple Crown 2012” and “Home Run #39”. This base comes with a LOA from JSA for the signature, and a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK 275624), which dates the use to the September 18th game.
