New England Patriots running back and return specialist Jon Vaughn was awarded the 1993 Mackey Award by the NFLPA for his prowess returning kicks during the 1992 season. Vaughn led the AFC in return yards, picking up 564 on only 20 returns, good for a conference-best average of 28.2 yards per return. During a December 20th game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Vaughn scored on a 100 yard kickoff return, the longest in the NFL that season. This award is made of two parts, a cylindrical pedestal and a 10 inch tall silver football player, his helmet tucked under his right arm. A plaque reads “John Vaughn / New England Patriots / AFC Kickoff Return Leader / 1993 Mackey Award / National Football League Players Association”. In total, this award measures roughly 14 inches high.
