Despite his short stature, Jose Altuve has made a big mark on baseball since his debut in 2011. In 2014, the year he wore this jersey, Altuve became the first player in over 80 years to collect 130 hits and steal 40 bases before the All-Star break, finishing the season as the MLB leader in hits (225), and the AL leader in steals (56). Altuve complemented these stats with a MLB-high .341 batting average, 59 RBI, an All-Star appearance, and a Silver Slugger Award.
He wore this Astros orange alternate jersey on July 25th, 2014, during a 2-0 loss to the Miami Marlins. Brad Hand, Brian Morris, and Steve Cishek combined to throw a three-hitter, although Altuve picked up one of those hits with a sharp single to centerfield in the bottom of the sixth. This orange, button down alternate home jersey has “ASTROS” sewn across the chest in navy blue and white tackle twill. Altuve’s number “27” is sewn on the chest and back in navy blue and white tackle twill, while “ALTUVE” is sewn across the back shoulders in the same color tackle twill below a MLB logo patch. A circular Astros logo patch is sewn on the left sleeve above a navy blue Majestic logo. This jersey shows good evidence of use, with a large dirt stain on the chest. The underarm area of the jersey is an orange mesh. A Majestic size “44” tag is applied to the front left tail of the jersey. This item comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (HZ 327515), which dates use to the July 25th contest.
