At the mid-point through the 1953 season, New York Yankees manager Casey Stengel was at the pinnacle of his career. From his first season as the Yanks skipper, ol’ Casey brought four straight World Championships to the Bronx. And as he sat in the dugout of the 1953 All-Star Game in Cincinnati at the head of the American League team, he was half way to what would be his fifth consecutive World Championship. Managing the AL All-Stars was more or less just like managing his own club - no less than seven of the 26 players were Yankees. Although Casey’s playing days were long over, bat maker Hillerich & Bradsby still created a Louisville Slugger just for him. The R26 model bat has Stengel’s stamped signature with the special “ALL STAR GAME CINCINNATI 1953” stamped into the barrel. The bat shows no use and is un-cracked, and Stengel has signed the barrel in bold black marker. This is a scarce All-Star manager’s model bat signed by Casey when he was at the very top of his Hall of Fame career. This bat comes with an LOA from PSA/DNA (1B14652) for the game use and LOA from SGC for the signature (AA03139).
