Presented here is a picture of Rusty Staub with and signed by former US President Richard Milhous Nixon. Staub, a 23-year pro best known for his time with the Montreal Expos and New York Mets, led an active life after baseball, founding the New York Police and Fire Widow’s and Children Benefit Fund as well as several restaurants. Nicknamed “Le Grand Orange” by Montreal Expos fans, Staub collected 2,761 hits in his illustrious career.
Nixon has signed this 14 ½ x 11 inch photograph in black pen, inscribing “To Rusty Staub / Le Grande Orange / With Best Wishes / Richard Nixon”. He also added the date, “9-14-81”. This item comes with a LOA from JSA, as well as an LOA from Staub himself.
