2017 October Legends Closing November 11

Presented here is a poem given to legendary MLB player Rusty Staub. A 23-year veteran and a six-time All-Star, Staub was a fan favorite at each of his professional stops. Even though he only played three years with the Montreal Expos, Staub’s number “10” was the first retired in franchise history. This poem is related to the spiritual “Old Man River”, and begins with the line “Old Man Rusty”. It states that Staub is “nearly 50”, indicating that it was likely produced in the early 1990s. The (slightly profane) poem is etched on a plaque with two baseball medals attached. The plaque, which is irregularly shaped, measures 15 x 12 inches and comes with a LOA from Rusty Staub.
