The New York Cosmos won their first Soccer Bowl in 1977, defeating the Seattle Sounders 2-1 in Pele’s final competitive game. British winger and Soccer Bowl ’77 MVP Stephen Hunt opened the scoring for the Cosmos in the 20th minute, although his compatriot Tommy Ord equalized some three minutes later. Prolific Italian striker Giorgio Chinaglia seized the victory for the Cosmos, scoring just over 10 minutes from the end of the match to hand the Cosmos a title.
The offered ring is a 10k Jostens gold ring given to Dom Flora, then the marketing director of the New York Cosmos. It is approximately a size 10 ¾, with “Pele”, “Dominick Flora”, and “8-28-77” etched inside the band. The ring’s face features a green stone, ringed by the high-relief text “NASL Champions 1977”. The Cosmos logo is etched in high-relief on one side of the band, and the NASL logo is etched on the other. It weighs 15.1 grams, and the inside of the band is marked “JOSTENS 10K”. This ring comes with a LOA from Dom Flora.
