2017 was a season of milestones for Los Angeles Angels slugger Albert Pujols. The burly first baseman/designated hitter hit the 600th home of his career in early June, and by the end of the season had moved up to 10th on the all-time RBI leader board, with 1,918 RBI.
The baseball offered here was hit by Pujols to record the 1,843rd and 1,844th RBI of his career on May 13th, 2017, tying Carl Yastrzemski for 13th on the all-time leader board. To record these two RBI, Pujols took a 94 MPH fastball offering from Daniel Norris of the Detroit Tigers on a ride to left field, scoring Martin Maldonado and Yunel Escobar to knot the score at two apiece. Unfortunately for the Angels, Pujols’ effort was not enough, and the Halos succumbed to a 4-3 home defeat. This baseball is an Official Major League Robert D. Manfred Jr. baseball, and it shows good evidence of use. It comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (JC 301696), which authenticates use to the May 13th contest.
