Known for their fast tempos, instrumentals and aggressive musicianship made them one of the founding “Big Four” bands of thrash metal alongside Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer. Metallica’s current lineup consists of founding band members James Hetfield, and Lars Ulrich, lead guitarist Kirk Hammett, and bassist Robert Trujillo. Metallica earned a great following in the underground music scene and won critical acclaim with its first five albums. Their fifth album Metallica (1991), was more appealing to a mainstream audience and was extremely lucrative for the band. The album sold over 16 million copies in the United States alone, making it the best-selling album of the SoundScan era. Metallica was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009.
Offered here is an 18 x 24 inch poster from their current WorldWired Tour. This particular poster is from May 17, 2017 at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York and it features a giant vividly colorful butterfly with fangs. The butterfly and its beautifully decorated wings are poised to pounce and it is all tied together by a psychedelic green, white, and yellow background. In front of the butterfly is the band’s name in blue with a black background to add depth. This poster is a good depiction of what thrash is all about, aggression meeting art; not necessarily conventional but still a thing of beauty.
