The 2000 Florida State Seminoles football team entered the Orange Bowl – played on January 3, 2001 – with a record of 11-1, with their only defeat coming in a 27-24 road loss at seventh-ranked Miami. Convincing victories over # 4 Florida (by a score of 30-7), # 10 Clemson (54-7) and # 21 North Carolina State (58-14) highlighted the Seminoles’ season and propelled them to the Orange Bowl and National Championship match-up vs. top-ranked Oklahoma. In that title game, the Sooners completely shut down the Seminoles (who averaged 39.3 points per game for the season), winning the contest by a score of 13-2.
Presented here is a Jostens 10K gold 2001 Florida State NCAA Football National Championship Game ring, which features a bed of CZs surrounding a spear, which is set in the outline of a football. At the top and bottom reads “FLORIDA STATE SEMINOLES” in relief lettering. One shank is centered by a Florida State helmet, with the name “RESTA” above and “33-P” below. The National Championship FedEx Orange Bowl Game logo appears on the other side along with the year 2001. Inside the band is the manufacturer mark and 10K stamp. This ring is an approximate size 11 and weighs approximately 40.0 grams.
