The Los Angeles Dodgers began the 2009 season by setting a new record for consecutive home wins to start a season, beginning 13-0 at Dodger Stadium. This broke their team record, 9-0 in the 1946 season, as well as the MLB record (12-0), set by the 1911 Detroit Tigers. The Dodgers won the National League West Division with a 95-67 record, advancing to the National League Championship Series for the second consecutive season.
The two offered Official Major League Allan H. Selig baseballs were used during the ninth and 10th wins of the Dodgers record breaking streak. The first was used on May 2nd, during the Dodgers 2-1 extra inning victory against the San Diego Padres. Cla Meredith of the Padres threw it in the dirt to Mark Loretta of the Dodgers during the bottom of the ninth. This baseball comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (LH 185877).
The second ball was used during the next day’s game, also against the San Diego Padres. Padres starter Chad Gaudin threw it to Dodgers catcher Brad Ausmus, who fouled it off behind the plate in the fourth inning. This baseball comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (LH 185893).
