In the second meeting between the two franchises, the San Francisco 49ers once again defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl XXIII 20-16. Hall of Fame wide receiver Jerry Rice, who caught 11 passes for 215 receiving yards was named the game’s MVP. Rice was the one player the Bengals could not control as his 27-yard reception to the Bengals 18-yard-line set up the winning touchdown pass from Joe Montana to John Taylor with 34 seconds remaining.
Offered is a full-sized replica of the Vince Lombardi Trophy modeled after the one presented to the San Francisco 49ers for their victory in Super Bowl XXIII. The trophy, with its 2 ¼ inch black triangle base, measures 17 inches tall. The front panel reads “VINCE LOMBARDI TROPHY” above the NFL shield and “SUPER BOWL XXIII AFC vs NFC Joe Robbie Stadium, Miami, Florida JANUARY 22, 1989 SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS 20 CINCINNATI BENGALS 16”. Rice signed the black panel made for the base in silver marker and inscribed “#80”. The trophy is in excellent condition with only a small scuff mark on the top of the football and comes with a COA from PSA/DNA (T29721).
