Presented is a high grade set of arguably the most difficult set over the last 50 years to complete in high grade. The 1971 Topps set boasts a very impressionable flush-to-the-edge black border with any wear clearly visible to the naked eye. Most high grade examples of 1971 Topps cards appear from vending runs (cards not issued in packs), and this set appears to be made primarily of vendors. While the first series (1-132) appear to be lesser overall (mostly EX to EX/MT) with corner touches, the remainder highlight sharp corners, crisp black borders with centering variances. Includes: w/#5 Munson (EX/MT), 20 Jackson (EX), 26 Blyleven RC (EX), 50 McCovey (NM), 55 Carlton (EX), 100 Rose (EX), 160 Seaver (NM), 180 Kaline (NM+), 210 Carew (NM), 250 Bench (EX/MT), 300 B. Robinson (EX/MT), 341 Garvey (EX/MT), 400 Aaron (EX), 513 Ryan (NM), 525 Banks (EX), 530 Yastrzemski (EX/MT), 550 Killebrew (NM), 570 Palmer (NM/MT), 580 Perez (EX), 600 Mays (NM), 625 Brock (NM), 630 Clemente (NM/MT), 640 F. Robinson (NM), 650 Allen SP (NM/MT), 688 Anderson SP (EX), 700 Powell SP (NM/MT), 709 Baylor/Baker RC (NM) and 740 Aparicio SP (NM). Grades 53% NM or better (many NM/MT), 47% EX to EX/MT, some lesser and a few altered.
