Presented here are two 1989 New York Mets road jerseys. The first jersey was worn by starting pitcher Frank Viola, who made 12 starts for the Mets in 1989 after coming to New York in exchange for Rick Aguilera, Tim Drummond, Kevin Tapani, and David West in a mid-season trade from the Minnesota Twins. “NEW YORK” is sewn on the chest of this gray pullover in blue, orange, and white tackle twill. “VIOLA” and his number “26” are sewn on the back of the jersey in blue, orange, and white tackle twill. White, orange, and blue racing stripes accent the side and sleeves of this jersey. Rawlings size “46” and “26” tags are sewn on the inside of the front left tail. “2 Inch Extra Length” and “SET 1 1989” flags are attached to the Rawlings tag. This jersey shows moderate wear.

The second jersey was worn by Rick Aguilera during the 1989 season. Aguilera made 36 relief appearances with the Mets in 1989 before a trade deadline deal sent him to Minnesota. “NEW YORK” is sewn on the chest of this gray pullover in blue, orange, and white tackle twill. “AGUILERA” and his number “38” are sewn on the back of the jersey in blue, orange, and white tackle twill. White, orange, and blue racing stripes accent the side and sleeves of this jersey. Rawlings size “44” and “38” tags are sewn on the inside of the front left tail. A “SET 1 1989” flag is attached to the Rawlings tag. This jersey shows moderate wear. Each jersey in this lot comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
