Hall of Fame ace Fergie Jenkins wore this Chicago Cubs cap during the late 1960’s. He joined the team in an April 1966 trade from the Philadelphia Phillies, pitching for the team until an October 1973 trade sent him to the Texas Rangers. Jenkins enjoyed some of his best years with the Cubs, winning 147 of his 284 career games during his first stint with the Cubs (Jenkins pitched his final two seasons for the Cubs in 1982-83 after eight seasons in the American League). With the Cubs Jenkins finished in the top three of the National League Cy Young Award race four times, winning the award in 1971 after leading the National League in wins, with 24.
This cap is blue, with a red and white Cubs “C” logo sewn on the front. A red button is located at the crown of the ballcap. A Wilson tag is sewn on the back of this size 7 ½ cap, and Jenkins’ number “31” is written in slightly faded black marker on the underside of the brim. Jenkins has signed the underside of the brim in black marker, inscribing “HOF 91” beneath his signature. This hat, which shows moderate to heavy wear, comes with a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (C99758) for the signature and a LOA from noted game used expert Dave Miedema.
