Shortly before the Enola Gay B-29 bomber embarked on its quest to deliver its atomic ordinance on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, Colonel Paul Tibbets instructed Private Nelson Miller to paint the name of the aircraft on its nose, just below the cockpit. Miller’s work became iconic, with the bold black lettering on the nose of the Enola Gay making a historic mark on military history. This 3 x 8 inch photograph is one of the few authenticated items to have been signed by Private Miller. The Enola Gay is on full display in this photograph, its iconic lettering vibrantly presented. Miller signed this photograph in blue pen. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AB12743).
