Presented here is a Christmas card signed by Hall of Fame manager and deadball era star player Casey Stengel. Known as the “Old Perfesser” for his gruff humor and persnickety mannerisms, Stengel led the New York Yankees to seven World Series titles before agreeing to join the New York Mets as the first manager in the history of the 1962 expansion franchise. Stengel managed the Mets until 1965, when an unfortunate broken hip forced him to cede his relinquish his managerial duties in late July.

This Christmas card is circular and measures 4 ½ inches in diameter. The front features a Christmas-themed Mets skyline logo, with a small circular cutout that shows Stengel dressed as Santa Claus. The inside features text that reads, “Have an ‘amazing’ Christmas and a Happy New Year / Casey and Edna Stengel”. Stengel signed the inside of the card in black pen, adding the inscription “Hall of Famer” below his signature in blue pen. Stengel also signed the back of the card in black pen, inscribing “N.Y. Mets / Hall of Famer” below his signature. This item is accompanied by a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A81808).
