While Ray Knight had a solid regular season for the best team in baseball, the 1986 New York Mets, it would be his post season heroics that propelled him into icon status for Mets' fans. Knight batted .298 with 11 home runs and 76 RBI during the regular season, but his home run in Game 7 and his scoring the memorable winning run in Game 6 earned him the World Series MVP as the Mets fought back from 0-2 and 3-2 deficits to defeat the Boston Red Sox to capture the franchise's second and to-date last World Series title.

Knight wore this size 42 New York Mets home white pullover jersey manufactured by W.A. Goodman & Sons during the 1986 regular season. This jersey has “Mets” and his number “22” sewn across the chest in blue and orange tackle twill, while a second “22” is sewn on the back, also in blue and orange tackle twill. “KNIGHT” is sewn across the back shoulders in blue and orange tackle twill over a matching white nameplate. A Mets 25th Anniversary patch is sewn on the left sleeve. Knight has signed the chest of this size “42” W.A. Goodman & Sons jersey in blue marker, inscribing “1986 W.S. M.V.P.” beneath his signature. This item, which shows moderate wear, comes with a LOA from JSA (Z64075) for his signature and a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema for the game use.
