Jackie Robinson is one of the most important figures in baseball history, a courageous trailblazer who accomplished incredible things both on and off the diamond. Robinson won the 1949 National League MVP award and the 1955 World Series with the Brooklyn Dodgers, the only MLB team he ever knew. A six-time All-Star, Robinson finished his decade long career with a .311 career batting average. The item offered here is a check signed by Robinson dating to December 23rd, 1959. The check is made out to a “W.M. Berdick”, who has signed the reverse side of this check. It is for the value of $60.00, with the memo “For Parkinson Disease” written on the check in blue pen. Robinson has signed the check, also in blue pen, as “Jack R. Robinson”. This check was issued by The Chemical Bank of New York, and features a red “Paid” stamp on the front. This check comes with a LOA from Rachel Robinson and a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A89205).
