Rickey Henderson, baseball’s all-time stolen base king, swiped this base during the New York Mets second game of the 2000 season, a 5-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs at the Tokyo Dome on March 30th, 2000. Henderson walked in the top of the seventh inning, where he swiped second base against Cubs pitcher Matt Karchner to record the 1,335th stolen base of his career. Henderson, who split the 2000 season with the Mets and Seattle Mariners, retired in 2003, completing a 25-season career that saw him inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009. Henderson retired with 1,406 total stolen bases, 468 more than the next closest player on the all-time leaderboard.

This Schutt base, which includes the metal anchor, features MLB logo plaques and Japan Series 2000 logo plaques on each side of the base. On the surface of the base, Henderson wrote the inscription “Stolen base #1335 / Mets vs Cubs / March 30 2000 / Tokyo Dome Japan”. He signed the base in black marker, creating a large and extremely bold signature. This base comes with a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (I17662) for the signature, and a LOA from Rickey Henderson himself for the game use.
