Presented is a 25-card complete set of "Presidents of the U.S." non-sports cards issued by noteable postcard giant Raphael Tuck and Sons in 1906. The year the set went into production is not known, but the facts that Teddy Roosevelt is depicted as the current president (he assumed office in 1901) and that Cleveland was still alive during the series' time of issue (he died in 1908) provide us with bookend dates for its time of issue. Like the previous Roosevelt postcard collection, this series was most probably released sometime late in Roosevelt's tenure. The American Card Catalog designates this Tuck set as PC472-1 and lists that it contains 26 card designs, indicating that this set is incomplete. But it is not. The 26th card for the set was a second portrait for George Washington, so this set is technically complete at 25, missing only that one known variation. Here's a beautiful unmarked set from the most actively collected postcard company in that hobby, presenting at an EX level (most grade lower due to a small spot of paper loss at the middle of the backs).
