Presented is a 6-card complete set of "Theodore Roosevelt" postcards issued by Raphaeal Tuck and Sons (one of the best known and most actively collected producers of color postcards) in 1908. Tuck cards were always produced to the highest standards, using nothing but the best designs of the industry's leading artists or beautifully chromolithographed photographs of notable personages and locales, often using as many as 12 printing plates to produce the most expensive products in their line. Printed in Germany for the London-based publisher, as were much of the firm's sets, this particular set of six colored photo postcards was likely produced during the time when Tuck had maintained a New York facility dedicated to its American trade. Of course, for an early 1900s American market, few topics would have been received as warmly as images of our "American Lion," President Theodore Roosevelt. This set from Raphael Tuck & Sons is imprinted on the reverse, "Set # 2333, 'Theodore Roosevelt." The series contains four images of Roosevelt from different points in his public career, plus two others of members of his family (one of daughter Alice; the only child of his first marriage and another of Roosevelt's second wife Edith and their daughter Ethel). From back text we can determine that the set's date of issue was undoubtedly post-1906, most likely from the 1907 to 1909 time frame during Roosevelt's final years in the White House. Mostly EX condition throughout (one lesser due to pencil/erased pencil).
