Jose Abreu made an instant impact with the Chicago White Sox during his rookie season in 2014. The Cuban first baseman was the 2014 American League Rookie of the Year, recognized after hitting 36 home runs with 107 RBI and a .317 batting average. Abreu has continued to rake, collecting 100 RBI or more in each of his four full seasons. In 2016, Abreu batted .293 with 25 home runs and drove in 100. Presented in this lot are a game used bat and a pair of cleats that were used by Abreu during the 2016 season.

This Marucci AP5P-Model bat was used by Abreu during the 2016 season. This bat displays heavy game use and is un-cracked. There are ball marks, stitch impressions, blue ink transfers and bat rack streaks present on the barrel. There is a heavy coating of pine tar on the lower barrel/upper handle trademark area. The lower handle has a bright green LizardSkins to enhance the grip. Abreu’s number “79” is stamped on the knob in black and other stampings on the knob include the bat’s manufacture date “07/12/16”, the bat’s length “4” and weight “2”. Abreu signed his name in silver marker on the barrel and inscribed “#79”. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15201) and has been graded a perfect GU 10 for the game use. There is also a COA from Onyx Authentication (A032086) which covers the game use and Abreu’s signature.

Abreu’s cleats were made by New Balance and are all black with bright green and gray accents. These size 13 cleats have the New Balance “N” logo on each side and Abreu’s number “79” is applied in white on the heel. Each cleat has eight metal spikes and the inside of each cleat has the Cuban flag on the bottom. Abreu signed each cleat in silver marker and inscribed “#79”. These cleats show outstanding use with dirt stains all over and heavy on the outsides of the heels. These cleats come with a COA from Onyx Authentication (A032087) which authenticates the game use and Abreu’s signature.
