Presented here is a cut signed by seven legendary college football players, including Ernie Davis. Davis, the first ever African-American Heisman Trophy winner, played for the Syracuse Orangemen. Davis was the first overall selection in the 1962 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. Tragically, a diagnosis of leukemia in the summer of 1962 cut short his life, robbing the world of a great football player and better person before he had the chance to step onto an NFL field.

Sadly, Davis is not the only athlete who signed this cut to die young. Frank Buncom, a linebacker for the San Diego Chargers and Cincinnati Bengals, passed away the morning of the Bengals 1969 season opener at the age of 29. Other signatures on this cut include Wendell Harris, the ninth overall pick in the 1962 Draft, Tom Dellinger, a quarterback and defensive back from North Carolina State, Bobby Ply, a quarterback from Baylor, and Clark Miller, a defensive end from Utah State who played nine seasons of pro football. Additionally, the name “Parker” appears on this cut. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication.
