New York Mets outfielder Michael Tucker wore this jersey and helmet during Game 7 of 2006 NLCS against the St. Louis Cardinals. This game, defined by Adam Wainwright’s dramatic punchout of Carlos Beltran to end the game and the Mets season, finished 3-1 in favor of the visiting Cardinals. Tucker appeared in the bottom of the seventh inning, replacing submarine pitcher Chad Bradford and flying out to centerfield. This was the final Major League at-bat of Tucker’s 12-year MLB career.
The jersey included in this lot is a white, pinstriped, button down home jersey. “Mets” is sewn across the chest in blue, orange, and black tackle twill. Tucker’s number “22” is sewn on the chest and back in blue, orange, and black tackle twill, while “TUCKER” is sewn across the back shoulders in a similar fashion. A MLB logo patch is sewn on the back outside collar, and a circular Mets skyline logo patch is sewn on left sleeve. A Majestic tag with attached size “48” and “Set 1 2006” flags is sewn on the inside front left tail of the jersey. The back of this jersey features light to moderate dirt staining. This jersey received the dusting of batter’s box dirt when Tucker fouled a ball off of his leg and hit the ground. This item comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (BB 234950) and a LOA from Mets-Steiner Collectibles.
The second item in this lot is Tucker’s blue, left-handed batting helmet. An orange interlocking “NY” logo is applied to the front of the helmet, and a label that reads “TUCKER” is affixed to the front of the brim. A second “TUCKER” label and a blue and orange MLB logo are applied to the back of this size 7 ¼ Rawlings vented batting helmet. This item comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (BB 234976) and a LOA from Mets-Steiner Collectibles.
