Hall of Fame catcher Mike Piazza used this catcher’s mitt during the 2005 MLB season, his final year with the New York Mets. Piazza, in only 113 games, hit 19 home runs and knocked in 62 RBI. He made the 12th and final All-Star team of his legendary career, starting for the National League. Despite playing in his age-36 season, Piazza was among the best defensive backstops in baseball, recording a .997 fielding percentage and recording only two errors in 659 chances. Piazza retired in 2008 after stints with the Padres and Athletics, and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016.
This Rawlings Pro CMJ catcher’s mitt is constructed of brown leather, with a one-piece extended palm web. Rawlings and “The Gold Glove Co.” tags are sewn on the pinky and ring finger slots of the glove, while a circular Rawlings logo appears on the wrist. “Mike Piazza #31” is embroidered in white on the top of the thumb. This glove, which displays excellent use, comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1G00413).
