Legendary Dodger Gil Hodges wore this glove during the 1960 MLB season, his 15th in the Major Leagues. Hodges helped the Dodgers win the World Series as their everyday first baseman in 1959, although he took a backup position in 1960. In 92 games at first base during the 1960 season, Hodges recorded a sterling .995 fielding percentage. Hodges had won three consecutive Gold Glove awards leading up to the 1960 season, including the inaugural first base Gold Glove award in 1957. Hodges would go on to play three more seasons in the Majors, including two for the fledgling New York Mets, before retiring after the 1963 campaign. He finished his career with statistics that rival his contemporaries in the Hall of Fame, including 370 home runs and 1,274 RBI.

This 12-inch first baseman’s glove is a Wilson A2801 model. It has a one-piece extended palm web with a cross laced fleece lined adjustable wrist strap. A black Wilson tag is sewn on the glove above the wrist strap. This glove displays evidence of excellent use. Hodges has signed the back of the index finger of this glove in black pen, with the added inscription “To Johnny / Best Wishes” written above his signature. This glove comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1G00422) for game use and a LOA from JSA (Z76404) for the signature.
