Three-time American League MVP Alex Rodriguez wore these batting gloves during the 1996 season, his first full year in Major League Baseball. The young Mariners shortstop was one of the best players in the league, crushing 36 home runs with 123 RBI while leading the Majors in batting average (.358) and doubles (54). Rodriguez made his first All-Star team in 1996, and finished second in the American League MVP race. Rodriguez finished his career in 2016, and is currently fourth all-time in home runs and third all-time in RBI.
These gloves are blue, teal, and white, and feature “AROD” embroidered on each index finger in white letters. A Nike logo is located on each wrist strap, and a number “3” tag is sewn on the underside of each wrist. Rodriguez has signed the top of these gloves in silver marker. These two gloves come with a LOA from Rodriguez himself for game use, and a LOA from JSA (Z02211) for the signatures.
