A pitcher really couldn't have a better year than Greg Maddux did in 1995 - 19-2 record, 1.63 ERA and a .905 winning percentage. To say he was dominant would be an understatement; he was almost unbeatable. The Cy Young voting that fall was just a formality and Maddux added it to the other three he'd won the previous consecutive years. Maddux added three more wins in the post season that year, helping lead the Braves to their first World Series title since moving south from Milwaukee in 1966.

Any Maddux game used jersey which comes to auction is special, but this one is more so as it dates to that special year of years - 1995. The front features “Atlanta” with an underlined tomahawk in brilliant red and navy blue tackle twill with some gold stitching. Navy and red piping runs around the neck and down both sides of the buttons and the sleeve ends. The back of the jersey has "MADDUX" in navy tackle twill on a matching gray nameplate and his number "31" in Braves red and navy blue tackle twill. The special Braves "30th Season in Atlanta" patch further dates this jersey to that remarkable season. Russell size "44" label is sewn to the lower left front tail in a 1992 style, but “carry-overs of this tag design for four years happened with limited, but legitimate frequency” – according to game used expert Dave Miedema. A simply stunning jersey which not only was game used by one of the greatest pitchers of all-time, but worn during one of the greatest single-season pitching records in the history of the game. Adding to this jersey is the Hall of Famer signing his name on the top rung of the “3” on the back of the jersey in silver marker. This jersey comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema and a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (C99754) for his signature.
