Ken Griffey Jr. won his only American League MVP Award in 1997 after hitting 56 home runs, driving in 147 RBI, and compiling a .304 batting average. The charismatic superstar led the Mariners to a rare American League West Division title, finishing six games ahead of the Anaheim Angels. Griffey received all 28 first place votes for MVP in 1997. He also claimed a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger award, and was named an All-Star for the eighth consecutive season. Griffey retired in 2010, and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016, with 99.3% of the vote.
This navy blue helmet is a size 7 1/4, and it has the Mariners “S” logo applied to the front. Griffey’s number “24”, an ABC logo, and a MLB logo are applied to the back of the helmet. The pad for the top of the head is missing, and the pad at the back of the skull is detached but present with the helmet. Griffey has signed the brim of the helmet in silver marker. This helmet shows excellent use, and it comes with a LOA from JT Sports for game use and a LOA from JSA (Z76363) for the signature.
