Ty Cobb was one of the greatest baseball players of all time, and he wanted to win every baseball game he ever played. He was so relentless; he would want to win at everything – baseball, checkers, horse racing and even the stock market. If it was one thing which consumed Cobb more than baseball, it might have been the stock money and the money he made playing that game. Cobb was said to amass a fortune in Coca-Cola stock, and when he died, he had a paper bag with a million dollars within. So, it is interesting that Cobb applied his black ink signature and date “Ty Cobb Mch – 31 – 24” to the reverse of this $1 denomination Silver Certificate. The bill itself has multiple creases and is well worn, but the signature and date are fully legible and while one crease transects the “T” signature is virtually unaffected. The signature has been authenticated by PSA/DNA and housed within the company’s protective case. This is a great item from the legendary Ty Cobb, a premiere baseball signature penned on an item he loved so much – money.
