Fellow heavyweight champions Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier faced each other three times in the ring, with Ali winning two of the three bouts. The "Fight of the Century" was the first of three bouts in the 1970s between the two heavyweight champs. Held on March 8, 1971, the Fight of the Century pitted reigning undefeated heavyweight champion Frazier (26-0, 23 KO) against the challenger Ali (31-0, 25 KO), who'd never been beaten in the ring in his pro career but was stripped of his title four years earlier. Frazier won the 15-round fight in a unanimous decision in front of a capacity crowd at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Both Ali and Frazier signed in silver marker this Life Magazine cover, dated March 5, 1971, touting the upcoming fight. The item comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA.
