Presented here is a signed 16 x 20 inch photograph of Mickey Mantle taken during spring training in 1951. The young Oklahoman was just about to start his rookie season, which would end in a World Series title, when this photograph was taken. Already seen as the heir apparent to Joe DiMaggio in centerfield, the Mick would wear number six this season before switching to his familiar “7” after a mid-season call up from Triple A Kansas City. This photograph shows Mantle dressed in his home whites, wearing the number six and in a right-handed batting stance. Mantle has signed this color photograph in black pen, inscribing “No. 6” and “1951” underneath his signature. This item comes with a LOA from JSA (Z60909).
