Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin wore this Dallas Cowboys helmet circa 1998-99. 1998 was Irvin’s final full season, and the former University of Miami Hurricane padded his Hall of Fame resume with 74 catches for 1,057 as he helped the Cowboys reach the playoffs. Irvin played four games in 1999 before suffering a career-ending spinal injury. He was the final NFL player coached by Tom Landry to retire, and he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007.
This helmet has been photo matched to the January 2nd, 1999 playoff game against the Arizona Cardinals at Texas Stadium. Irvin finished the game with four catches for 32 yards in the Cardinals' victory. This helmet is metallic silver, with a blue and white stripe bisecting the crown of the helmet. The facemask is gray, with Irvin’s mouth guard still attached. The Cowboys iconic star logo is applied to each side of the helmet. A label that reads “Irvin” and an NFL logo are applied to the back of this helmet, which shows moderate wear. This helmet comes with a LOA from Resolution Photomatching, who have photo matched this helmet to the January 2nd game.
