Mariano Rivera is baseball’s all-time leader in saves by a substantial margin, with 51 more than the second man on the list and an astonishing 174 in front of the third highest player. Rivera was the last player in baseball to wear the number “42” regularly after it was retired in Jackie Robinson’s honor.
