Presented here is a poster from the 1924 Paris Summer Olympics. This was the eighth modern Olympiad, and the second to take place in Paris. These were the final Olympics organized by Pierre de Coubertin, and they finished with many memorable performances. Harold Abrams and Eric Liddell, the subjects of the film Chariots of Fire, won the 100m and 400m events, and Johnny Weismueller, the best-known actor to portray Tarzan, won three gold medals and a bronze. This poster features an image of several shirtless men saluting in front of a rippling French flag. “Paris 1924” and “Jeux Olympiques” are printed on the poster, which was created by the artist Jean Droit. This poster, a scarce and treasured artifact, measures approximately 49 x 33 inches.
