Newly elected Hall of Famer Jim Thome joined the Philadelphia Phillies in 2003 after spending the first 12 seasons of his career with the Cleveland Indians. Thome continued to play like one of the best power hitters in baseball, leading the majors with 47 home runs in 2003. Thome wore the offered jersey in 2004, the Phillies first season at the gorgeous Citizens Bank Park in South Philadelphia. Thome made his first National League All-Star team in 2004, finishing the season with 42 home runs and 105 RBI as the Phillies claimed a second-place finish in the National League East Division. Thome played parts of two more seasons with the Phillies, in 2005 and 2012, before retiring with 612 career home runs, currently Major League Baseball’s eighth-highest home run total.

This button-down home jersey is white with red pinstripes, and “Phillies” chenille stitched in red over white tackle twill. Blue chenille stitched stars dot the “I”s in “Phillies”. Thome’s number “25” is sewn on the left sleeve and the back in red and white tackle twill. “THOME” is sewn across the back of the jersey in red and white tackle twill. A Citizens Bank Park Inaugural Season patch and a memorial patch for Tug McGraw are sewn on the right sleeve. A Majestic tag with a size “52” flag is sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. This jersey shows light wear.

Also included in this lot is a pair of red pinstriped home pants worn by Thome during the 2003 season. The pants have a dual-buttoned front, and evidence of team repairs on the back of the left thigh. A Majestic tag and a “25 Thome 38-44 34 03” swatch is sewn on the back inside waistband. These pants show moderate wear. This lot is accompanied by a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
