Hall of Fame outfielder Tony Gwynn wore this blue San Diego Padres jersey during the Padres April 13th, 1998 game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Qualcomm Stadium. Gwynn recorded the 2,800th hit of his career in this game, cracking a line drive single to right field against D-Backs starter Brian Anderson. This game finished 1-0 in favor of the Padres, with Friars starter Andy Ashby and Anderson each throwing complete games. The Padres lone run came on a fourth inning solo home run by Archi Cianfrocco, one of only four hits surrendered by Anderson. Gwynn started the game in right field as the Padres improved their record to 11-2. Gwynn, an All-Star in 1998, finished the season with a .321 batting average, 16 home runs, and 62 RBI as the Padres won the National League West Division and advanced to their second World Series of Gwynn’s career.

This blue, button-down jersey has “PADRES” sewn across the chest in navy blue, white, and orange tackle twill. Gwynn’s number “19” is sewn on the back of the jersey in orange and white tackle twill, while “GWYNN” is sewn across the back shoulders in white tackle twill. A Friar patch is sewn on the left sleeve, and a white Russell Athletic logo is sewn on the right. White piping accents the chest and sleeves of this jersey. A Russell Athletic size “50” tag is sewn on the front left tail. “#2800” and “4-13-98” are written on the tag in black marker. This jersey comes with a COA from Alicia Gwynn and a LOA from JSA (Z76402) for the signature.
