Tampa Bay Rays right fielder Wil Myers wore this batting helmet on September 28th, 2014 during the final game of his sophomore MLB season. The Rays played the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field, with Alex Cobb getting the start against T.J. House of the Indians. Myers, the 2013 American League Rookie of the Year and a one-time All-Star, recorded a first inning single against House as the second batter of the game. Later in the same inning, Myers swiped second base before a Logan Forsythe groundout put an abrupt end to the first frame.
This helmet is navy blue, with a Rays “TB” logo decal applied to the front of the helmet. Myers’ number “9”, as well as a MLB logo decal, are applied to the back of the size 7 3/8 Rawlings helmet. This helmet shows good evidence of use, with some cracking present on the crown and numerous scuff marks across the helmet. This item comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (HZ 154759), which dates its use to the September 28th contest.
