The New York Yankees said goodbye to Yankee Stadium, their home since 1923, on September 21st, 2008, defeating the Baltimore Orioles 7-3 in front of a packed house. This lot is a signed photograph of Yankees closer Mariano Rivera throwing the final pitch in the history of Yankee Stadium. The future Hall of Fame closer came in for a non-save situation, pitching a perfect inning to preserve Andy Pettitte’s win. The final batter of the game was Brian Roberts, the Orioles second baseman, who grounded out to first base to end the game. This 8 x 10 inch photograph shows Rivera pitching, the ball halfway to home plate and the scoreboard positioned behind him. Rivera has signed this photograph in black marker, writing “Enter Sandman / Final Pitch / 9-21-08” beneath his signature. This photograph, which is displayed in a 16 x 13 inch frame, comes with a COA from Steiner Sports.
