Miguel Cabrera immediately made his presence known to Detroit fans as he homered in his first game after joining the Tigers. It was the first of 37 he’d hit that year to lead the American League. Late in the season he got his 1,000th major league hit and finished with a .330 batting average, firmly establishing himself as Detroit’s new star. Cabrera used this bat during the September 20, 2008 game at Progressive Field against the Indians. The Tigers first baseman went 1 for 4 that night as Detroit bowed to Cleveland 6-3. We also believe the bat matches photographs of home runs by Cabrera on 8/31 and 9/1 (pictures on the web site) however that is not recorded in the MLB database as they only record date it was taken from player. The Zinger X Series bat shows heavy game use with a broken handle that has been taped in 2 places. White ball scuffs, blue ink transfers and stitch impressions cover the barrel and many spike imprints can be seen. The knob end has a sticker with Cabrera’s number “24” in black marker. The upper handle is heavily coated in pine tar to enhance the grip. MLB hologram sticker number BB 646722 is affixed to the barrel.
